Mkth Cafe
After a meticulous facelift, the much-loved Mkth Cafe in Riyadh reopened its doors with an enhanced aesthetic, revitalizing its original 100 sqm space while remaining faithful to the beloved design style appreciated by locals.
The hefty architectural columns at the center of the space posed a significant challenge; however, rather than seeing them as obstacles, we embraced them. We integrated the columns into the heart of the project, transforming these bulky elements into focal points and weaving the primary coffee bar and service counter around them.
To further highlight their bold charisma, we wrapped the columns in smooth, glossy Rosso Alicante marble—a signature feature of the cafe—in contrast to their original gritty texture. The marble, with deliberate voids left in between, creates a dynamic impression that honors the original structure and craftsmanship.
Placing the primary counter at the center allowed us to create a more functional anduser-friendly layout, with two large seating sections on either side of the coffee bar. This strategic configuration brought the bar into focus, establishing it as the center piece of the cafe. The seating areas feature neutral hues and soft finishes, while the walls, with beveled corners, create a warm and cozy atmosphere for customers to enjoy. Our vision crafted a seamless experience where you can relax, take a coffee break, or chat.
The furniture palette, composed of warm wooden tones and sleek stainless-steel elements, complements the theme of material dynamism, as exemplified by the red marble and textured concrete. MKTH Cafe has been unveiled as the epitome of its celebrated lineage, offering a revitalized ambiance that embraces the new while preserving the original allure cherished by its customers.
